Pour one out for the blue BMW M4 CS you see in the pictures and videos below, because it’s probably not making any more trips on public roads anytime soon. Few cars have the sort of raw power that the M4 CS does and clearly, in this case, that power proved to be a little too much for the driver to handle. Here’s what we know about the single-vehicle crash that sidelined a $230,000 BMW coupe believed to be a press vehicle.
The crash happened Wednesday afternoon in the town of Gendringen in the Netherlands. Evidently, the driver was on Netterdensestraat Street when they lost control and rolled the high-powered BMW. Given the ability of people to crash much less powerful cars, like this Ferrari F40, while going straight, this wreck should come as no surprise.

Of course, if reports are true, perhaps the driver at the helm should’ve had enough experience and the know-how to keep it under control. According to Autoblog NL, this is the exact same M4 CS they tested a week before. While that in and of itself doesn’t confirm that a journalist was behind the wheel, the chances aren’t exactly low.
The M4 CS produces 543 hp (550 PS / 405 kW) and 479 lb-ft (649 Nm) from its turbocharged inline-six, with prices in the Netherlands starting at around €216,000 (approximately $224,000 at current exchange rates), and that’s before adding any options, which this one almost certainly had.
We’re just glad that the two occupants escaped without serious injury. Given the wretched state of the car post-crash, it’s impressive that they weren’t hurt more. As photos and video show, the car ended up partially submerged in a water-filled ditch, making the aftermath look even worse than it already was.
No doubt, this is one more good example of how far cars have come regarding safety. Based on the value of the car it, wouldn’t be too shocking if BMW or someone else repairs it. There aren’t any current reports on how or why the driver lost control but the accident is still under investigation.
