Police broke off the chase when the driver entered city streets in the name of safety, and the suspects were apprehended while trying to cover the car

Police across the nation know that in some circumstances, they’re outgunned on the highway. Modern-day performance cars boast abilities that the everyday police car can’t dream of. Some departments have even complained about such cars. Not even Arkansas state troopers could catch up to one recently. That said, they still found their suspects in the end.
We’ve covered all manner of police chases here before. That includes the kind where the suspect gets away thanks to an incredibly fast car and good-enough driving. In the video below you’ll see a very fast Chrysler 300, but perhaps a driver who just didn’t know when and how to ultimately evade officers.

According to The Evening Times, that driver is 19-year-old Isiah Menner. He and his two passengers were subject to a traffic stop around 10 a.m. on November 29. Rather than stop though, police say Menner took off. A chase began in Earle, Arkansas, which is roughly 30 minutes from the Mississippi River.
Speeds increased and local authorities asked for Arkansas state police to get involved. When that happened, the trooper closest to the action was Matthew West. As Trooper West joined the chase, Menner’s driving became more “evident”, says The Evening Times. Allegedly, he was changing lanes without signaling, and barely avoiding collisions with other cars.
West attempted a PIT maneuver but Menner managed to maintain control of the Chrysler. Then, at some point, local police used radar to clock the fleeing car at 174 mph (280 km/h) in a 55 mph (88 km/h) zone. Menner allegedly left the highway and went back onto city streets. At this stage, West lost track of the 300 and terminated the pursuit in the name of public safety.
That turned out to be the right move too, because the suspects stopped speeding. They actually stopped driving altogether and parked the car. That’s where a local Fish and Game officer saw two people covering the car with a tarp. Within minutes, those two were in custody and before the day was over, Menner was in jail too.
Now, in case you’re wondering how a Chrysler 300 could do 174 mph, it’s worth noting that while there was no official Hellcat version as the title of the video suggests, the SRT-8 did feature a 6.4-liter 392 Hemi V8 with 470 hp (upgraded to 485 hp for the 2023MY that was limited to 2,200 units) and had a top speed of 175 mph.
