The reflective mirror finish isn’t a wrap but is instead the result of hand-polishing

Machine-Polished Tesla Cybertruck Looks Like A Mirror On Wheels

  • A Tesla Cybertruck owner had his pickup machine polished.
  • The final product features a mirror-like finish that stands out even more than a stock Cybertruck.
  • Those interested in the same style can get it with a wrap rather than hours of hand-polishing.

The Tesla Cybertruck turns heads across the USA and even in parts of the world where it’s not supposed to be. Those in the Cybertruck owner’s club who really want to stand out have to go further than simple ownership. Wraps are all the rage it seems but how about arduously polishing the stainless steel itself? That’s exactly how far at least one person went to make their Tesla shine brighter than the rest.

Polishing stainless steel isn’t a simple, quick, or easy process. It requires hours of tedious detailing work with specialized tools at the hands of professionals. Sure enough, that appears to be what happened here. Photos from the scene show the mirror-like finish shining brightly in the sun but it’s the video that really does it justice.

A crew of four people sits almost completely still, only their arms moving gently as they buff the stainless steel Cybertruck skin. Simply masking off the truck’s plastic and lighting features appears like a tedious job. Nevertheless, we’re glad someone shot a few seconds of footage of the process.

Unsurprisingly, several commenters online took the time to guess that this was a wrap, not a real finish. That’s understandable given that wraps can provide a similar finish. In fact, we’ve already documented someone who wrapped their Cybertruck in an even more gaudy gold reflective wrap. They even added 30-inch wheels and tires on top of that. Talk about a case of the “look-at-me-please”.

Amazingly, this isn’t the first time that someone has polished a stainless steel vehicle to this degree. Over a decade ago, someone did the same thing on a DMC DeLorean. According to Jalopnik, some areas of the car required four hours of work per square inch. Hopefully, for the person paying the detailing bill at least, the crew on this Cybertruck didn’t need even half that.
