Tesla Cybertruck Goes Off-Road Gets Stuck On Tree And Ruins The Fun

  • A Tesla Cybertruck got stuck on a tree while off-roading at Hidden Falls Adventure Park in Texas.
  • It only managed to continue the journey with the help of other off-roaders with a winch.
  • The incident highlights a few weak spots in the Cybertruck’s approach to off-roading.

When the supposedly super-tough Tesla Cybertruck gets stopped on an off-road trail it makes news. When it’s stumped by a small tree on an off-road trail it’s both newsworthy and a bit funny. That’s exactly what happened to one owner who went to Hidden Falls Adventure Park in Marble Falls, Texas.

The first time we get a shot of the Tesla it already appears to be in a precarious position. Of all the lines it could possibly take up the hill it looks poised to squarely hit the only tree near the path. How the truck came into that position is unclear. As a spotter gives direction, the Cybertruck driver turns his wheel to the right, accelerates, gets a little slip, makes a little progress, but manages to just barely snag the tree.

It ends up trapped between the tire and the front fender and the truck itself seems unhappy. In the background, a warning chime of one sort or another, similar to the one we’ve heard in other Cybertruck error videos, goes off. Almost immediately, the voice of the driver comes in. “Pull me up, pull me up or I’m gonna be stuck here,” he says in what sounds like a panic. That appears to be what the crew does.

In the next scene, a winch is gripping tightly to the front-passenger tow hook and appears to have pulled it laterally away from the tree. Even then, something seems wrong with the Tesla as it needs the winch at least two more times to get over seemingly simple obstacles. Even without mechanical issues caused by the tree contact it simply appears to be too long to get over some of these features.

All of this highlights a few things that the Cybertruck could need to be truly capable off-road. The all-terrain tires it comes with don’t appear all that grippy when the road runs out. In addition, the promised software update including e-lockers for the axles will be a real improvement. Til then it’ll be interesting to see how many more off-road Cybertruck fails happen.
