No injuries were reported as a result of a scary, spinning crash involving a fire truck near St. Louis, Missouri

The conditions in Missouri this week are so icy and slick that a salt truck actually slid into a grocery store this morning. It should come as no surprise, then, that a fire truck also struggled with the conditions, and wound up spinning its way down a hill Monday morning.
The incident took place in Imperial, Missouri, just south of St. Louis. The truck was responding to a call the Rock County Fire Protection District received about a car crashing into a fire hydrant. Fortunately, no one was injured in the initial incident.
Unfortunately, the truck did lose control on its way to the call, and slid down a small hill, as captured by two residents who happened to be filming the incident. In the video, the truck can be seen spinning its way down the hill, building momentum on the way down.

The good news is that no one was injured in this incident either, and no structures were damaged in the crash, the fire department told KSDK. However, both the fire truck, and the blue Chevrolet Cruze you can see in the above image, suffered damage after colliding.

Earlier in the day, the ice caught the driver of a salt truck out while they were attempting to make the roads safer for other drivers. This accident, which occurred in St. Louis, saw the vehicle hit the Elite Supermarket & Grill at around 5:30 a.m.
Sadly, the truck’s driver did have to be taken to hospital, but he was not being treated for life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported as a result of the accident. As ever, these crashes are a good reminder that cold weather warrants extra precaution. If you can afford winter tires, they may be helpful, but it’s probably best to simply avoid driving on icy days, if you can.
