Hear The Luxury: Hilarious Tiktok ASMR Video Compares Old Proton With Bentley Mulsanne

Proton and Malaysia proudly remember the Saga for being the first Malaysian car, but even they’d struggle to imagine a situation in which the rehashed Mitsubishi Lancer Fiore would ever be compared with a Bentley.

But that’s exactly what’s happened thanks to the Proton-obsessed mind of UK enthusiast Jon Coupland, and his clearly up-for-a-laugh wife, Amy. Amy and one of Jon’s six Protons are the stars in a video that pokes fun at an earlier (and already ridiculous) video on the Jet Car YouTube channel in which Russian model Alla Bruletova touches and strokes various parts of a Mulsanne while whispering the word ‘Bentley’.

The UK couple replicated each shot of the original video, and in the final cut we get to see each shot from the Russian film, then the Proton equivalent. Jon told his local news site, Lincolnshire World, that he’d originally planned to star in the video himself and had asked Amy to help him film it, but he eventually persuaded his wife to be the star, and even put on a black dress, just like Bruletova.

The Proton video has racked up millions of views on TikTok, Facebook and Youtube in the two weeks since going live, though the couple aren’t the only car fans to parody the original Jet Car video. Other variations on the same theme feature vehicles like the Ford Transit, while one from Dubai-based Indian content creator JustSul showcasing the luxury delights of a battered Tata pickup has scored over 20 million likes.
