Driver Accidentally Flips His Own Car In Road Rage Incident Before Pulling A Knife

When road rage gets really out of hand everybody seems to lose. That’s certainly true of one such incident recently recorded in Australia. A man in a Holden Astra SUV rams a small sedan only to end up flipped over. Police say he then got out of the car and brandished a knife for a time before they arrived.

Evidently, the road rage altercation happened in the late afternoon on Wednesday along the Princes Freeway at Tynong North near Melbourne. “It’s alleged the Astra rammed the sedan, causing the Astra to roll,” police said in a statement. The video confirms that exact series of events.

The Astra driver clearly aims for the side of the sedan and makes contact with the front left tire. The sedan steers back into the lane it’s just been pushed out of and the Astra flips over. “I bet he regrets that,” a voice from the camera car can be heard saying.

The altercation wasn’t over though. After extracting himself from the overturned SUV, the driver wielded a knife and chased the opposing driver down the road. Bystanders ultimately kept the two men separated until police could arrive.

Once they did, they arrested the Astra driver. The unnamed 50-year-old man is facing charges of reckless conduct endangering serious injury, driving in a dangerous manner, careless driving, criminal damage, unlawful assault, assault with a weapon, and possessing a controlled weapon. He’s already been bailed out but has a court date set for November 3.

Police say that neither party suffered any injuries, which is amazing given the brutal collision we see in the video. There’s no word on exactly what started the argument but some reports suggest that the Astra was tailgating the sedan and that the latter may have brake checked the SUV.
