Exposed And Unapologetic Hyundai Palisade Driving Without Body Panels Fined By Police

by Thanos Pappas

Sometimes even police officers are left puzzled by the weird cases they stumble across on public roads. The latest example is a Hyundai Palisade that was driving without many essential body panels in Australia, inevitably drawing the attention of the police.

The SUV, or what was left of it, drove past a police patrol on Mcltyre Road in Sunshine North just outside Melbourne, Victoria last Saturday. The front bumper, fenders, bonnet, headlights, windshield, and rear glass were missing, making it a peculiar sight. Despite the exposed engine bay, the vehicle still had its license plate mounted on the chassis.

It seems that the 41-year-old female driver thought it would be ok to drive around in something that looks more like a body-in-white than a finished vehicle, as she was spotted at a substantial distance from her home in Brighton. The naked SUV is most likely the result of an accident rather than a project vehicle waiting for a face swap. Besides the missing front end, there was a damaged rear bumper and quarter panel from the passenger’s side.

Surprisingly, this wasn’t the first time the driver was stopped by the police, as she had already received a “major defect notice” last Wednesday. Since the woman ignored the first warning, she got fined AU$ 740 (US$ 494) and three demerit points. Hopefully, she will fix her Hyundai before taking it out for a spin, or use other means of transport until it is fully repaired.
