What Does Ben Collins Think Of The Praga Bohema?

by Brad Anderson

The Praga Bohema is a supercar unlike any other currently on sale, offering immense power in a lightweight body that produces plenty of downforce and styling that makes it look like a multi-million dollar hypercar. But, what does Ben Collins think of it?

The man best known as formerly playing The Stig in Top Gear recently had the opportunity to jump behind the wheel of Praga’s latest creation. Not only that but Collins just so happened to test it at the Dunsfold Aerodrome used by Top Gear as its test track.

It doesn’t take long to realize that the Bohema is an absolute beast. While Collins did not set an official lap time in it, he says that it feels like the fastest car he has ever driven around the circuit.

Driving the car is a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 from the Nissan GT-R but eager to give this engine some added grunt, Praga has contracted Litchfield to make some modifications to it. Among the changes made include the fitment of a dry sump system and new turbochargers, allowing it to pump out 700 hp at 6,800 rpm and 534 lb-ft (724 Nm) of torque between 3,000 and 5,000 rpm. This engine works alongside a 6-speed Hewland sequential transmission that drives the rear wheels.

Of course, it’s not just a powerful engine and a lightweight carbon fiber monocoque that make the Bohema so capable. Praga’s development team spent a considerable amount of time on the car’s aerodynamics, ensuring that it pumps out as much downforce as possible. Indeed, it can deliver 1,984 lbs (900 kg) of downforce at 155 mph (250 km/h), roughly the same as the car’s overall weight.
