We’re not sure if we should love it or hate it, but one thing’s for sure: this CTS conversion will turn heads faster than a Mustang leaving a car meet

Someone Turned A Cadillac CTS Coupe Into a Pickup With Pinto Taillights

  • The front half of this odd creation retains the standard CTS Coupe design.
  • Surprisingly, the pickup bed appears spacious and well-suited to the conversion.
  • The taillights have been directly lifted from a Ford Pinto, adding an bizarre twist.

For some, pickup trucks strike that elusive balance between utility and comfort, offering spacious interiors, rugged capability, and the ability to tow and haul like a champ. But what if you’re cruising around in a low-slung passenger car and find yourself yearning for a bit more practicality? Well, you could follow in the tire tracks of this Cadillac CTS owner and transform your ride into something a little unexpected—like an Australian-style ute.

This curious Cadillac was spotted in Idaho a few months back, proving that with enough effort, determination, and possibly a loose grip on convention, you can turn just about anything into a pickup coupe of sorts. And while it may not dethrone the Silverado or F-150 anytime soon, it’s hard to deny that it’s a head-turner.

Judging by the long doors and the hidden door handles, it seems this CTS started out life as a Coupe, rather than the more popular sedan model. The front half of the car looks pretty much like any other CTS from this era with the same tall chrome grille, sharp headlights, and jagged lines. It’s then been cut behind the B-pillars and what was once part of the Coupe’s tapered roof has now morphed into an upright rear window and a large bed.

While we haven’t been able to find any photos showing the inside of the bed, it looks quite spacious from the outside and certainly makes this CTS Coupe a little more practical than most others. The shape of the bed looks surprisingly nice too, and the fenders and rear quarters suit the rest of the bodywork.

The rear fascia isn’t quite as refined. The Cadillac’s taillights have been ditched in favor of a pair of lights from a Pinto and look completely out of place on the ute. The rear bumper also looks rather odd, as do the two centrally mounted tailpipes. Had the exhausts been positioned off to the sides of the bumper and a tow bar installed, this CTS might have looked much cooler.
