 First Recorded Crash Of A 2025 BMW M5 G90

  • The super sedan was reportedly being driven by a BMW dealership employee.
  • It’s unclear if any serious mechanical or structural damage has been done.

Deliveries of the new G90 BMW M5 have only just begun, yet one has already met an unfortunate fate in Poland, crashing and sustaining significant damage. Given the immense power coursing through the veins of BMW’s sports sedan, it’s hardly shocking that someone’s managed to land one in a ditch so soon. After all, even the most advanced traction control systems can’t defy the laws of physics or overenthusiastic driving.

Limited details are known about the crash, but according to the individual who snapped these images of the car, an employee of a local BMW dealership was behind the wheel at the time when things went sideways—literally, it seems. It remains unclear whether any other vehicles were involved in the incident.

The full extent of the damage is hard to determine based on the two photos we have. The front fascia looks to have avoided any obvious damage and the brunt of the impact appears to have been taken by the driver’s door. It has been badly bent and scratched, and the side airbags were triggered by the impact. No one is thought to have been injured in the crash. Local police and fire crews responded to the scene.

While the new BMW M5 has been criticized for being extremely heavy, there’s no doubting its safety credentials, since the new 5-Series has been awarded a five-star rating by the Euro NCAP which, according to the organization, applies to all variants of the model. Of course, that will be no consolation to the dealership employee who was driving this G90. Here’s hoping this wasn’t an M5 owned by a customer of the dealership, but rather a demo.

It’s hard to know if the car will be repairable. If only the driver’s door has been damaged, it could be replaced, alongside the airbags and airbag sensors. However, if the impact has also caused some structural issues, then an insurer may decide it’s easier and cheaper to declare it a complete write-off.
