Elon Musk has repeatedly made the frankly ludicrous claim that one day, every single person on earth could have their own Tesla Optimus, a life-size robot that’ll cost between $20,000 and $30,000. While that seems highly unlikely to happen anytime soon (if ever), Tesla has recently launched a far more affordable alternative: a $40 scale action figure of its humanoid robot, bringing the concept within reach for far more people.
As expected, the Tesla Bot Action Figure sold out almost instantly, and flippers have wasted no time flooding online marketplaces with listings, with prices ranging from a few hundred dollars to several thousand.
A Small Robot with Big Demand
Launched quietly on the Tesla Shop late last week, this pint-sized version of Optimus is a highly detailed figurine boasting 20 points of articulation across its 40+ individual parts. For $40, buyers received a tiny humanoid robot capable of mimicking the movements of the full-sized Optimus prototype—a bot that remains years away from practicality, or even reality.

Tesla routinely releases novelty accessories, and they almost always sell out quickly. In the case of the mini robot action figure, it took less than 24 hours for Tesla enthusiasts to snap up all the available stock. Plenty of these figures have since been listed for sale on eBay, with prices typically ranging from just over $100 to as much as $600. One has even been advertised for $10,000, though they generously noted they’d consider offers.
Small, Articulate, and Sold Out
Each figurine comes with a small charging stand and a tiny version of the Cyberhammer. The figure stands 7.16 inches tall and is 2.16 inches wide, tipping the scales at just 1.7 oz or 48 g. Tesla’s store says it’s currently out of stock and interested buyers can enter their email address to be notified when it’s restock, although there’s no word on how long they’ll have to wait.
This isn’t Tesla’s first foray into quirky merchandise. Earlier this year, the company introduced the Cybervessel, a double-walled flask with a sci-fi aesthetic, priced at a premium $50. For those on a slightly tighter budget, there’s the CyberStein, a 19-ounce water jug available for $40. Like the mini Optimus, these items offer Tesla fans a way to buy into the hype—one small, overpriced accessory at a time.
