Missouri Woman Furious At Police After Stolen Dodge Charger Gutted And Dumped

  • Kim Winston’s Dodge Charger was stolen, stripped down, and left abandoned.
  • This was the second time that the woman’s muscle car had been stolen.
  • Police allegedly failed to track the car down despite reported sightings.

A woman in St. Charles, Missouri, has been left heartbroken after thieves stole her purple Dodge Charger and proceeded to strip it down to its bare chassis, dumping it on the side of the road.

The Dodge was stolen on August 5 from Kim Winston’s St. Charles County apartment parking lot. She took to Facebook and told her friends to keep a look out for the car and later, it was spotted in the Baden neighborhood in North City.

Speaking with FirstAlert4, Winston says she alerted the St. Louis City Police and the St. Charles Police Department of several sightings of the car but claims they refused to come together to track down the car.

“These police municipalities need to come together,” she said. “Don’t give me it was in St. Charles so it’s not my responsibility. I mean, they left me out there for four hours, and they never came. They still haven’t contacted me. Talked with the [St. Charles Police Department] sergeant and said I keep getting reports that my car is being seen and he said if it was up to St. Charles once they cross that bridge, they’re not chasing it.”

The next time the car was spotted, it was quite literally a shell of its former self. A photo shared online reveals that almost every single piece of the Charger has been removed. All that’s left is the car’s chassis, the windshield, and the rear window. It seems likely those who stole the Charger have experience stripping down cars like these, as removing so many parts is not a small job.

Making matters worse for Winston is that the Charger was her only form of transportation as the local area does not have a public bus service. She also used the car to drop off and pick up her blind son from his job.
