A 27-year-old woman has been arrested after stealing a Honda Civic from a dealership in Doral, Florida, and leading police on a high-speed chase through busy traffic.
The chaos started shortly after Melina Logan allegedly took a 2024 Civic for a test drive from a South Miami dealership but failed to return. Authorities from the Florida Highway Patrol and Miami-Dade Police quickly caught up with her, but she refused to pull over. Instead, she decided to lead police on a chase down the Palmetto Expressway, reaching speeds of 90 mph (145 km/h).

Dashcam footage released by the police shows an officer pursuing Logan. At one point, the officer collides with the rear and side of another police cruiser parked on the side of the highway while continuing the chase. Despite heavy traffic, Logan can be seen recklessly weaving through other cars before swerving into the emergency lane with an officer in pursuit.
At the 26-second mark, Logan’s Civic collides with the concrete barrier as the emergency lane narrows, bouncing into the side of a dark grey Mazda3. The chase concludes moments later when Logan hits the rear of a truck and comes to a stop on the side of the highway.
The officer in pursuit quickly runs over to the car with his gun drawn. Logan can be seen slowly climbing out of the car before climbing onto the barrier and jumping into the lake below. Unfortunately for her, multiple police officers saw her jump and there was even a local media helicopter that kept track of her when she was in the water. It didn’t take long before police pulled her out and arrested her.
Local10 reports Melina Logan is facing charges of grand theft and third-degree battery on a police officer.
