Dumb Or Daring? Pagani Utopia Owner Drives Through Dubai Floods

  • Pagani is building just 99 examples of the V12-powered Utopia.
  • Customer deliveries of the Italian exotic started last year and this owner isn’t afraid to drive it.
  • Fortunately, the water that flooded the road doesn’t appear very deep.

The UAE was hit by unprecedented floods on April 16 and while driving in such conditions is never a good idea, the owner of this Pagani Utopia never received that memo.

Footage from Dubai has gone viral across social media in recent days and no video has attracted more attention than this one. It appears to have been filmed from a high-rise apartment in the city and shows the multi-million-dollar Utopia driving across a flooded section of road without a worry in the world.

Fortunately for the driver of the Pagani, the water doesn’t appear very deep and only spills over the front splitter on a couple of occasions. The driver also takes things quite slowly, reducing the likelihood of the water getting into areas where it shouldn’t.

This is far from the first video we’ve seen of a mid-engined supercar being driven through floods. While we would never dream of driving an exotic through flood waters, the location of the engine behind the cabin reduces the risk of hydro-locking compared to a front-engined car where the intakes are usually positioned lower and at the front of the car, rather than along the sides.

Pagani started customer deliveries of the Utopia last year and it plans to build just 99 examples. The car in this video appears almost identical to the one first presented by the Italian automaker in 2022 and has a similar champagne-colored exterior. As long as there wasn’t any salt or chemicals mixed into the flood waters, this Utopia probably escaped without any damage. Nevertheless, here’s hoping the owner gave it a good clean afterward.
