Texas Truck Meet Marred By Destructive Crowds After The Event

An event known as ‘Lone Star Throwdown’ took place in Conroe, Texas , from February 23rd to the 25th, and unfortunately, it ended on a sour note. While the event itself proceeded smoothly, a group of participants and numerous spectators caused chaos, resulting in property damage and reports of urinating on police vehicles. The situation only came to a halt after intervention from Homeland Security. Yes, that’s how bad it got.

There’s no exact count of how many trucks showed up for the Lone Star Showdown, but there were tens of thousands of spectators. While it’s unclear exactly how many participated in the antics after the show, it was enough to fill a Kroger parking lot. Video from the scene shows it absolutely full of modified trucks and their occupants.

Some did burnouts, others did donuts, there were physical altercations, and reports say that some people stole electric shopping scooters and even stop signs from the parking lot. The sideshow takeover cast a big shadow on the Lone Star Throwdown to the point that the event leaders had to do serious damage control.

“If this gets resolved there will be big changes to this event. With that a lot of complaints will be made. But just know that the changes came because of these individuals. It’s time that people start being held accountable for their behavior,” part of a post on Facebook said. The organizers met with the Montgomery County Office of Homeland Security on March 7th to clear things up and make a path to the future.

As reported by The Drive, the event is officially confirmed for 2025, but it’ll be closely monitored beginning on Friday. The authorities say that they’ll shut the whole thing down if something goes sideways. To be clear, the problem isn’t hanging out in parking lots after the event, it’s the property damage and abuse of authorities.

Event organizers reported what the police found and the list isn’t pretty. “The incidents that we were made aware of was patrol unit tire being slashed, urinating on and around the patrol units, attempting to remove an individual from a patrol unit that was in custody, stealing mobility scooters from the business, stealing the stop signs, damaging of landscaping, and the list went on.”

Considering just how bad that sounds it’s somewhat amazing that the event is going on next year at all.
