Let This Subaru BRZ Driver Explain How He Cheated Death In Horrific Semi Crash

Automotive safety has made significant strides over the years, yet there are instances where a driver’s survival still hinges largely on luck. Such was the case for the young individual who miraculously survived this truly horrifying collision involving a Subaru BRZ and a car-opener, um, sorry we mean semi-truck.

Video footage of the crash first emerged on TikTok a few days ago, captured by a passing motorist. In the clip, a man can be seen walking around a Subaru stopped on the highway, much of whose right side has been torn open like a can of tuna.

Fortunately, we know that the BRZ’s driver survived the crash because he released his own video about the accident yesterday. Although the driver was lucky to survive, he didn’t get away unscathed, as the crash he describes sounds terrifying, and will likely take a long time to recover from.

Based on user ‘nathan.southside’s’ description, the accident happened while he was returning home to Sacramento from Los Angeles after a trip to acquire new parts for his car. He claims that a semi-truck changed lanes and allegedly collided with his vehicle.

Whether the truck’s driver simply missed the small car in their mirrors or wasn’t paying attention is unclear. However, the result was that nathan.southside’s BRZ ended up getting clipped by the trailer and stuck under the wheel. Once it was released, the bar at the back of the trailer hit the back of the car and dragged it some more.

While we can all agree that the BRZ’s driver is lucky to be alive, he suffered some serious injuries. In his video, he displays images of his injured hand and wears a neck brace. He recounts having pinched nerves in his back, a torn shoulder, cracked ribs, a punctured lung, and a concussion from striking the windshield.

The driver suggests that he’s receiving a lot of support from his social media followers, which is great, and we would like to throw our voices in with the chorus of well-wishers. I’m sure we would all be devastated enough if we lost our car in an accident like this, but to have to recover from all of those injuries as you’re mourning your car must surely be a heavy burden to bear.
