Man Steals New BMW M2 Smashing Through Dealership, Leads Police On 110 MPH Chase

Sometimes, intrusive thoughts prevail. Or, at least, that’s what seems to have occurred to a man in Muncy Township, in the heart of Pennsylvania. He reportedly stole and drove off in what appears to be a brand new 2024 BMW M2, crashing through the dealership and attempting a quick getaway. However, his escape was short-lived as police apprehended him after a chase.

Police say they have arrested and charged Brian Matthew Kilgus, a 37-year-old man who is accused of visiting Ciocca BMW of Williamsport at around 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26 . According to one of the dealership’s employees, Kilgus was sitting in the M2 when the engine started. The employee tried to reach in to stop him, but he drove off smashing through the dealership’s glass wall.

After Kilgus accelerated through the window, he hit an unidentified Hyundai vehicle that was also owned by the BMW dealership, as well as a tractor trailer, before heading for the highway, reports Northcentralpa. Police claim that the M2 was clocked traveling at speeds of up to 110 mph (177 km/h).

The high-performance coupe was seen weaving in and out of traffic as it sped away from the dealership, towards Turbotville. About 10 miles (16 km) down the road, the M2 exited the highway, taking the Route 54 exit, which seems to have been a mistake, because the driver lost control and ended up on a grassy berm next to the road.

Police pulled up in front of the BMW to block its path forward, and that ended the chase, as the Kilgus stuck his hands out the window, and surrendered without incident. That’s a blessing because police allege that they found a semi-automatic handgun in the vehicle.

Kilgus faces multiple felony charges stemming from the incident, including theft by unlawful taking, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, four counts of criminal mischief, and three counts of reckless endangerment. He is currently being held in Lycoming County Prison after being denied bail.

It is estimated that both the Ciocca BMW dealership and the 2024 BMW M2 suffered more than $5,000 in damage. According to one of the dealer employees, the M2 had an MSRP of $78,470. The Hyundai and the tractor trailer also sustained damage, though their repair costs are expected to be below $1,000 and $500, respectively, all of which have a bearing on the criminal mischief charges against Kilgus.
