The 37-year-old is now facing a long list of charges including burglary and fleeing to elude

A Florida man is facing a long list of charges following a series of car burglaries and a crash on Monday morning.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 3:28 am after a man and woman were reportedly seen trying to get into multiple vehicles in a neighborhood. The reporting party apparently told dispatchers the couple were in a white sedan heading towards the only exit.

A deputy spotted the car and attempted to make a stop, but the driver of the 2006 Cadillac CTS reportedly “sped away into the neighborhood.” Since there was only one exit, they decided to wait instead of starting a pursuit.

Polk County’s Sheriff’s Office

Despite not being chased, the driver reportedly panicked and started looking for another exit as they were apparently unfamiliar with the neighborhood. As a result, the Sheriff’s Office said “While speeding through the streets, the suspects sped past one deputy, turned around and sped back down the same street while trying to find a way out.”

Their efforts were in vain as the suspects ended up crashing into a parked car. The two were promptly arrested and taken to the hospital due to injuries received in the wreck.

Interestingly, Sheriff Grady Judd said the driver of the car, 37-year-old Timothy Allen Hogue, had a neck tattoo that said “All gas, no brakes.” Judd added, “Fleeing from a law enforcement traffic stop demonstrates very poor decision making, but to do it in a small, residential neighborhood at a high rate of speed is a terrible idea, and dangerous. It’s amazing and fortunate that nobody innocent was hurt or killed.”

The Sheriff’s Office went on to say that Hogue admitted to the burglaries and fled because he “freaked out.” He’s now facing charges of “burglary of an unoccupied conveyance (F2, 4-counts) with enhancement of crossing county lines, felony petit theft (F3, 3-counts), fleeing to elude (F3), conspiracy to commit burglary (F3), possession of methamphetamine (F3), possession of marijuana less than 20g (M1), Possession of drug paraphernalia (M1), and Resisting without violence (M1).”

Remarkably, Hogue was out on the streets despite a long criminal history that reportedly includes 31 felonies and 18 misdemeanors. His partner, 31-year old Rebecca Kozub, has 19 felonies and 20 misdemeanors on her record and she’ll be facing additional charges for the latest incident as well.
