Police Arrest Four Juveniles Going 115 MPH In Stolen Hyundai For TikTok Clout

Police in North Carolina nabbed a quartet of teens who initiated a high-speed chase in a stolen car and got caught. According to the suspects, they ran from authorities so that they could post about it on TikTok. Officers used stop sticks to end the chase and then found two guns including a stolen one.

All four juveniles ended up in custody after a nine-minute police chase in Monroe, NC. Initially, officers tried to pull the car over on Concord Highway but the driver decided to run. Over the course of the chase, the kids ended up at speeds of 115 mph (185 km/h), police say.

When they didn’t pull over, police put out a spike strip and disabled the vehicle. That vehicle just happened to be a Hyundai. Authorities didn’t say if it was one of the ones involved in the now infamous TikTok Boys Kia/Hyundai theft phenomenon. Regardless of how the teens obtained the vehicle, it clearly wasn’t theirs to begin with.

Once police stopped the car the teens, aged 14 to 17, admitted that they were “making a TikTok video” according to local news outlet WSOC. Evidently, these kids didn’t realize just how serious the crime was and for whatever reason weren’t in school despite the fact that the chase happened around noon on a Monday.

During the search of the vehicle, police found two different handguns including one that was stolen. “It’s sad, it’s very sad. It put a lot of people in a lot of danger. For these kids to be out – and they referred to TikTok – they were thinking this was some kind of TikTok fun. They thought it was a joke,” said Monroe Lt. Morgan Malone.

Being juveniles, the police didn’t release any of their personal details. Nevertheless, they’ll face criminal charges through the Department of Juvenile Justice in North Carolina.
