Corvette Occupants Miraculously Walk Away After Being Crushed Under 18-Wheeler Truck

Size and weight differentials between different vehicles can be a recipe for disaster during accidents. Thankfully, this crash involving a semi-truck and a C7 Chevrolet Corvette sports car saw no serious injuries. That’s even more shocking given the photographs of the scene showing the truck fully lifted into the air as it rests atop the blue coupe.

Details about exactly what led to the accident are sparse. It happened on the morning of October 5th on the northbound side of I-49 in Desoto Parish, Louisiana just south of Shreveport. Images from the scene appear to show that the big rig drove over the driver’s side A-pillar of the Corvette before coming to rest fully on the hood and passenger compartment. The trailer itself overturned and spilled contents onto both the roadway and into the median.

A local motorist near the scene when the accident happened evidently stopped and stuck around to both document the situation and to help. They sent a comment and the photographs you see here to the Desoto Parish Sheriff’s Department.

“I was one of the 1st people to pull up to the accident on I49 this morning. I just wanted to compliment the 1st sheriffs deputy on the scene. I’m not sure what his name is [Cpl. Jimmie Minor] but his command and control of the scene was not only impressive but when it came to cleaning up the scene he jumped in there with the work crew and helped out! I took several pictures of him and would like to send them to you as well. I just wanted to compliment and say thank you to the Sheriff’s Office as well as the State Police for a job well done,” they said according to the department’s Facebook posting.

If the Corvette occupants did in fact escape without injury it demonstrates just how safe modern cars are. Somehow this isn’t the only recent example of that involving a Corvette. Late in September, another truck drove over a Corvette but the occupants emerged without injury. Late in August, the driver of a Corvette at a race track escaped injury despite experiencing two impacts both with over 5 Gs of force.
