There are increasingly vocal concerns about the size and height of pickup trucks, and in at least one case, that imperious stature has led to everyone’s worst fear: a monster truck-style crash with a smaller car, in this case, a C8 Corvette. Fortunately, authorities say that no injuries were reported as a result of this bizarre accident.

The collision took place in Thornton, Colorado, just a few miles north of Denver. Although the local fire department did not provide detailed information about the incident’s circumstances, it is evident that a head-on collision occurred between a black Chevrolet Silverado and an orange Chevrolet C8 Corvette

Subsequently, the truck seemed to have climbed onto the low-slung sports car, ultimately ending up on its roof. Thankfully, the efforts to enhance the Corvette’s safety in a rollover scenario proved successful, as the mid-engine Chevy managed to support the weight of the significantly larger truck.

Unfortunately for the driver of the Corvette, despite not suffering injuries serious enough to warrant a hospital visit, they were still trapped in their vehicle for a period of time. That’s because the Silverado landed with one wheel on the driver-side door.

As a result, first responders with the City of Thornton Fire Department were forced to jack up the Silverado and remove its passenger-side wheel in order to provide enough clearance to open the Corvette’s door and let the driver out. Not sure I’d want to be stuck under a Silverado for any amount of time.

While it’s great to hear that there were no serious injuries, it’s hard not to marvel at the luck of everyone involved. It’s also hard to imagine how badly things could have gone if the Corvette in this incident were of the same vintage as the Silverado.
