Texas Car Wash Freezes In Cold Weather, Looks Like Icy, Arctic Cave

Texas is known for its warm weather, but as the Great Texas Freeze showed us last year, the Lone Star state can get pretty chilly.

That was the case last weekend when Matthew Guthrie visited a H-E-B store on Christmas Eve and found its automatic car wash had turned into a frozen mess.

While little is known about the incident, we can see massive icicles hanging from the ceiling and brush roller.  By the looks of things, it appears a pipe might have burst in the cold weather, causing water to go everywhere before freezing.

It remains unclear how long the car wash will be out of commission, but Fox Weather noted the National Weather Service reported temperatures as low as 12° F (-11.1° C) in central Texas on Saturday.  That’s far below average, but the warm weather has returned as Austin was in the 70’s today and is expected to remain there for the rest of the week.

Of course, Texas was far from the only state impacted by the cold weather as Buffalo, New York was slammed by more than 50 inches (1,270 mm) of snow.  In New Jersey, a handful of cars were encased in ice after the Hudson River flooded while in Indianapolis, a woman drove on a frozen canal before plunging into the water.  Elsewhere, there have been countless accidents caused by slick roads and near whiteout conditions.
